Commercial Rowing Club has fantastic state of the art facilities for members of all categories and ages. Commercial has recently completed and opened it’s new gym & boat house extension. The gym houses a large weights room which includes weight machines and free weights.

As of January 2015, the club has twentyone (21) concept II ergometers.

Moreover, we also have one of the largest fleet of boats in the country.  Our extensive equipment resource is always growing to meet the needs of our promising athletes.   In 2014, our fleet in Islandbridge included: –

  • 46 single sculls (many of which are privately owned)
  • 6 double sculls
  • 4 pairs
  • 3 coxless quads
  • 5 coxed quads
  • 2 coxed fours
  • 8 eights (yes – you read correctly)

Complementing these craft are oars of varying types, styles and makes for different levels (including Concept2’s, Croakers, S2’s, S4’s Full Carbon, etc).  Click here to learn more about Oars at Commercial.

The river Liffey at Islandbridge allows for rowing and lessons everyday (and nights, depending on your skill level). We are not reliant on tides and the river is very sheltered. There is a 1800m stretch available from the Liffey Weir to Chapelizod Village.

The Club often also trains at Blessington Lake, Co. Wicklow (where we share a secondary boathouse). Approximately 30 minutes from Dublin, this man-made lake enables crews to get-a-good-run on a stretch of approximately 12km on a six-lane course.
